Less than fifteen minutes from Laguna Beach and the beautiful Southern California Coastline, Laguna Woods Village is easily accessible by the I-5 or 73 Toll Road.  The nearby Pacific Ocean helps keep the average yearly temperature at a perfect 67 degrees.

A community designed specifically for active mature adults,  Laguna Woods provides the infrastructure and amenities, conveniences and activities that allow its residents to pursue an independent California resort lifestyle.  Residents maintain their independence with all the conveniences and activities right at their fingertips.

The private, gate-guarded community is the largest such project on the West Coast for adults 55 years and older. Built on 2100 acres of gently rolling hillsides, the community is home to more than 18,000 residents.  One member of each household must be at least 55 years of age and the resident mix includes active and retired professionals.  With a choice of over 90 floor plans among the 12,736 dwellings, and prices ranging from $150,000 to $1,000,000, this thriving community meets every lifestyle and budget.  Commercial and retail centers, medical facilities, and houses of worship are nearby.

CLUBHOUSES: Laguna Woods Village offers a multitude of recreational and social facilities, including seven well-equipped and maintained clubhouses.  The clubhouses feature:

• Five large swimming pools
• Hobby and game rooms
• Meeting and billiard rooms
• Lawn bowling greens and shuffleboard courts

Clubhouse facilities are available for residents with advance reservations.  Clubhouse 3 offers an auditorium theater with seating to accommodate 834 guests.  The theatre audio and stage lighting is state of the art.

FITNESS CENTERS:  Two Fitness Centers and a gym offer excellent equipment with fitness staff to oversee and support exercise programs.  The aerobic, swimming, conditioning, calisthenics and nutrition classes are tailored to the physical needs of mature adults.

GOLF:  A challenging championship 27-hole golf course and a nine-hole three-par executive course are available to all Laguna Woods Village residents and their guests. Additional golf amenities include a driving range, practice putting greens, chipping area, pro shop, two full-time golf professionals and electric cart rentals.

Golf fees are just $4.00 for nine-holes and $8.00 for 18-holes for residents.  For non-residents, golf fees are $40.00 on weekends and holidays before 1:00 PM; $30.00 after 1:00 PM; and $25.00 Monday through Friday for 18 holes.

EQUESTRIAN CENTER:  At the first-rate equestrian center, horses may be boarded or rented for a nominal fee.  In addition to riding lessons and guided trail rides, the center features a show ring and grandstand.

TENNIS: Open daily from 7:00 AM until 10:00 PM, the 10 tennis courses include a Tennis Court Clubhouse.  Five courts are equipped for night play with coin activated lighting times at a cost of $1 for one hour of play (available in 15-minute increments).  The ball machine clinic meets twice a month by appointment.

EMERITUS & OTHER CLASSES:  Clubhouse 4 features the Arts and Crafts Center, providing workshops and Saddleback College Emeritus classes with a wide variety of activities, including:

In addition to a full-time staff, a crew of 200 resident-supervisors volunteer their time to oversee use of individual workshops.  The Emeritus Institute, a fully accredited division of nearby Saddleback College, provides over 100 courses from accounting to theater arts.  Held primarily at Laguna Woods Village facilities, the program has been recognized as one of the nation’s outstanding academic programs for the 55+ residents.

GARDEN CENTERS:  Residents who enjoy growing their own plants, flowers and vegetables may rent a plot at one of two Garden Centers.  Garden plots range in size from 200 square feet to over 400 square feet.

COMPUTER LEARNING CENTER/PC & MAC WORKSHOPS:  Computers providing high-speed internet connection are available in the PC and MAC Workshops.  Beginning and advanced classes are available to residents in the Computer Learning Center.  Classes include Introduction to PC’s, software applications, digital imaging, word processing, database management, and spreadsheets.

CLUBS:  More than 240 service clubs, special interest groups and organizations offer residents a wealth of leisure time activities, among them theater, choral and ballroom dance groups, the Laguna Woods Village orchestra and one of the largest bridge clubs associated with the American Contract Bridge League.

SECURITY/SERVICES: Laguna Woods Village security contributes to residents’ privacy and peace of mind.  Entrance can be gained only through the guarded gates.  Mobile security units patrol the entire community 24 hours a day.

TRANSPORTATION:  Residents easily travel throughout Laguna Woods Village on the community’s fare-free private bus service.  This service also includes transportation to nearby shopping centers, houses of worship, banking institutions and restaurants.

MAINTENANCE & LANDSCAPE:  A full-time staff of carpenters, plumbers, painters and gardeners free homeowners from all exterior maintenance.

LAGUNA WOODS VILLAGE LIBRARY:  Staffed entirely by volunteers, the library has a circulation of 140,000 items including books, magazines, paperbacks, videos, and books on tape.

CABLE TV:  The Golden Rain Foundation owns and operates a state-of-the-art fiber optic cable system offering 77 cable channels.  The system includes TV-6 production studio where Laguna Woods Village news is broadcast Monday through Friday.

NEWSPAPER:  Our independently-owned subscription newspaper is published weekly with distribution on Thursdays covering Laguna Woods Village news and activities.
